Why Is My Monitor Touch Screen Not Working?Updated a month ago
The Reasons
Sometimes when I connect my device to the touch monitor, the touch screen might not work. This could happen for a few reasons.
- Incorrect cables usage
- Power issues
- Device incompatibility
- Windows Touch Settings Incorrect
- Dirty monitor surface
- Incompatibility after a system update
- Physical damage
- Hardware failure
How to Fix a Monitor Touch Screen Is Not Working?
Use Right Cables
You can connect your device to the touchscreen monitor in two ways.
- If you have a laptop or smartphone with a Full-Featured USB-C port, you can use a USB-C to USB-C cable to enable touch functionality. (Smartphone should support the DisplayPort Alt Mode and laptop should support Full-Featured USB-C, Thunderbolt 3/4)
- Alternatively, you can connect with an HDMI cable and a USB-A to USB-C cable((for transmitting touch signals). The monitor also needs to be powered.
Power the Monitor
If the laptop's USB port output power is insufficient, you must charge the monitor to ensure it functions properly.
Use a Compatible Device with the Touchscreen Monitor
Our touchscreen monitor is compatible with all Windows desktops and laptops, as well as macOS desktops and laptops running macOS Mojave 10.14 or earlier. If your macOS device is running a version later than Mojave 10.14, read this article to check out what products will work for you.
Besides, all gaming consoles can't support the monitor touch screen.
Properly Set Up Windows Touch Input
If you're unable to use the touchscreen, you can adjust a few settings from the menu when connected.
- Press the Windows key + P and select Extend mode.
- Next, type "Control Panel" in the search bar to locate it.
- Once you're in the Control Panel, change the view to Category and select Large icons.
- Look for Tablet settings, click on it, then go to Settings, where you'll find the Touch input option.
If you can't find Tablet settings, press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog. Then, type the following command:
shell:::{80F3F1D5-FECA-45F3-BC32-752C152E456E}
After that, click on Settings and select Touch input.
Clean the Surface of the Monitor
If the surface of the monitor is too dusty, it may cause touch functionality issues. In this case, you can use a damp tissue to clean the surface.
Use a Compatible System with the Monitor
As we mentioned earlier, UPERFECT's touchscreen monitors are compatible with macOS Mojave 10.14 and earlier. If you’ve upgraded your operating system, some monitors might have touch screen compatibility issues. In that case, it’s a good idea to look for monitors that work with versions of macOS released after Mojave 10.14.
Replace Damaged Parts
Damaged or loose cables, like USB-C or HDMI, can cause connection issues with the monitor, which may also prevent the touchscreen from working properly. You can try connecting the cable to other devices. If it doesn’t work properly, it might be time to get a new one.
Investigate Hardware Failures
If none of the above steps help get your touchscreen display working properly, it’s likely that the touchscreen itself is damaged. In this case, your best option is to contact customer service for a product replacement, as long as it's within two years of your purchase.
